Fun fact: the Dedham Drop was named after Dedham Day’s most unique attraction. But, looks like we’ll have to save that story for November. Our town’s most interesting tradition has been postponed due to that nor’easter that’s brewing. Details below.

🌧️ A nor'easter — in September? A coastal storm is forming off the Mid-Atlantic and is expected to strengthen into a nor'easter as it slides toward New England late this week. Forecasters are watching Friday through the weekend for heavy rain, wind gusts up to 50mph, and coastal flooding as the storm parks itself near the coast. It's rare for this kind of system to develop in September.

🐮 Dedham Day has a new date. The Town's biggest family event has been postponed to Saturday, November 7 (rain date Sunday, November 8) at Barnes Memorial Park, BBQ, rides, vendors, entertainment, and of course the Cow Plop are all still on. Cow Plop deeds are on sale now.

🌊 Volunteer Opportunity: The Town is seeking two residents for a paid Community Liaison role on the Norwood-Dedham-Milton Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP 2.0) Core Team, helping shape Dedham's climate resilience priorities and translate them into local action. $3,200 honorarium for the role, running October 2026 through June 2027 (~80 hours). 🎸 Battle of the Bands is back. Dedham Arts Boosters' fundraiser for arts and music in Dedham Public Schools returns to Motherbrook on Saturday, 10/3. Sector 7G (last year's winner), DAN, Dedham Jazz Connection, Four on the Floor, Klown Puncher, and Shifting Paradigms take the stage. Doors at 7PM. $25 gets you in — snacks, raffles, and a cash bar (21+). Babysitting available on-site; email [email protected] to reserve a spot.

📦 End of an era in Westwood. After 43 years, Frugal Fannie's is closing for good — citing medical hardships, retirements, and the end of their lease. Their Going Out of Business Sale starts today, Thursday, 9/24, with bargains ramping up as they count down their final days.

🎨 Dedham Cultural Council is accepting funding proposals — applications are due October 15.
